ABOUT ALEXIS
I believe that those of us that work in the healing arts are called to do this work, rather than choose it.
From a young age I was drawn to nature and holistic practices, yet experienced a humble appreciation for modern medicine. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts and spent much of my time outside in nature, crafting and convincing my parents into yet one more animal - cats, dogs, lizards, chickens, bunnies and horses to name a few. As a young child, I also experienced both my parent’s battles with cancer. At the time, I wasn’t old enough to grasp the severity. Instead, I witnessed some of the best oncology care in the country living close to Boston’s top hospitals and through my parents own journeys, I observed them embrace mindfulness, prayer and healthy living. This embracing of both science and nature, rather than choosing one or the other, was all I knew. It greatly shaped my own journey in healthcare and built the foundation for an openness to functional medicine and energy medicine.
In my studies I was taught that science is the gold standard, but after years of schooling, a doctorate, hundreds of hours of continuing education, and years working with patients, I began to see that at the root of the most transformational healing I witnessed, was nature. The plants, the elements, the seasons, the sun and moon and one’s own energy were really all that was needed. While I still use modern science and labs to support me in understanding the landscape of each patient’s terrain. I began to rely deeply on plants, nourishing foods and energy to guide the path of healing. What started as a hobby, capturing the essences of plants and sacred spaces in tincture, has woven itself into the core of my work. These subtle energies are infused into the space I hold for patients and the energy medicine I transmute. The formulations I recommend for patients are modern day potions, compromised of what is needed in that moment to catalyze change. I’ve come to observe that healing is change, a journey, cyclical, powerful and completely unique to each person.
I believe that medicine comes in many forms. The traditional Western - life saving kind, as well as the medicine from a hug, a beautiful song or a kiss of sunlight on a warm summer day. There is so much medicine in nature around us, but more importantly, there is so much medicine within us. Over the last almost 20 years I have developed a practice that infuses the best of modern science with a deep weaving of the natural elements and subtle energies that are also profoundly healing. Through working one on one with patients, my holistic roots have grown and I feel and see more within the human body than is described in text books. The energy medicine I have learned is not taught by institutes, but rather it is a distillation of observations, patterns, and experiences. It is without dogma or protocols and is organic and dynamic. I am medically intuitive, reading the energy of the body, but at my core I am a guide and a teacher. I don’t just hear patient’s stories and symptoms, I also feel their words, their pain, their history. Over many years I developed my own techniques of using energy to support the healing process. However, my greatest teachers have always been my patients. At the root of my work is a listening to my patient’s own wisdom, their unique goals and journey. And I hope to serve as a reminder that You Are The Medicine.
